Notes of Gratitude & A Mallorca Sunset
The sunset at the entrance to the studio in Mallorca, just before evening meditation
For almost a year I brewed this delicious yoga retreat in Mallorca — a perfect balance I imagined between silence, happy chatting, deep conversation, and that quiet energy of belonging. I imagined that feel-good vitality one has in their body when practicing asana in a mindful, sweaty, daily way. I imagined how the mountains and the sea would fill my heart, how I would look forward to our meals, how I would enjoy being quiet and alone in my room with my books, preparing for the next day’s sessions. I imagined long walks in nature and a daily hour in the spa.
I visualized this experience, and then I sent my dreams into the wind and hoped whoever needed to be there would hear the calling and that it would all align.
And then... those magical moments in life when everything you imagined comes true — and it is so, so much better.
I couldn’t imagine that people would still passionately discuss the Yamas and Nyamas over breakfast. I couldn’t imagine the tender kindness everyone would show one another, the perfect balance between allowing space and extending invitation. Or the generosity of the group collecting a huge tip for the restaurant staff.
I didn’t know a breathtaking sunset would welcome us into the studio for evening meditation. I didn’t foresee how my students would all be waiting for me by the studio door, and that no one would miss a single minute of shared practice — even after a difficult hike, and even at 30 weeks pregnant. Or the incredible food...
I didn’t imagine the hugs from the front desk staff, the kisses from the woman selling me my daily Diet Coke, the big bouquet of flowers a friend gathered for us to sit beside in practice, or that even the rainy day would feel so perfect. The simplicity of it all.
It is a remarkable feeling of fullness when I pour my heart into creating something — and then witness it take on a life of its own. Breathing life into desires that arise, into experiences that are asking to be born.
I spoke to a friend yesterday and for her, right now, it is about hosting a dinner. She wrote a gorgeous invitation, created a whole concept, is bringing people together and planning a meal — and it is bringing her so much joy.
What I want to say is: DO IT. Whatever it is that is whispering inside you... the thing that makes you feel excited, alive, pulled toward it — do it.
And - I know it is a big investment, but if a retreat speaks to you, join me next year, same place in Mallorca, May 12-17, 2027.
